Focused Screening Assessments

In contrast to our comprehensive assessment services, Focused Screening Assessments offer a practical, economical, and targeted approach to assessment when you have questions about a specific diagnosis or difficulty. Screening Assessments lack some of the nuance of comprehensive assessments and provide a “probably yes”/”probably no” answer to diagnostic questions; however, they can be helpful as a relatively low commitment step when deciding whether to invest in more involved clinical efforts.

As with all of our assessment services, a Screening Assessment will result in a report for you that outlines any relevant diagnoses, an explanation of your challenges, and helpful recommendations for your next steps.

A Screening Assessment may be particularly beneficial for those with questions about neurodevelopmental differences (e.g., ADHD, Autism, Learning Disorder). It may also be helpful for those concerned about dementia (risk) and the possibility that they may be experiencing problematic cognitive decline. While a Screening Assessment may be undertaken to determine specific mental health diagnoses, a more comprehensive assessment is typically recommended for this application.

A Screening Assessment typically includes the following (though the actual scope of services will be determined collaboratively):

  • Clinical Interview – 2 hours, in person or virtual

  • Completion of screening questionnaires- in person or virtual

  • Limited review of health records (as available and needed)

  • Assessment report preparation

  • Feedback meeting to review the assessment outcomes

If you are interested in learning more about how a Screening Assessment may fit your needs, contact us! We will be happy to speak with you about our services and what may be most practical and helpful.
